When I see it, I am filled with irritation. I become irritated like a whorish hag. Yes, I feel like a sadist; I would love to stamp on it. I feel jealous of its supremacy, the way it is read, meditated and cried upon by a bitch who does not love me. Sometimes I wonder why its devotees look at its figurative meanings literally. How can God make a presence of meaning in the being or ontology of the book? Yes Derrida, the Guru of deconstruction has de-mystified the Logos, the Significance of Presence as a meaning of God being in the LOGOS (word). I am truly a gentleman and would not even dream of burning the BOOK. Instead of visiting art galleries and attending symposiums on Literature and Philosophy, I am forced to attend Evangelical Theological meetings.. I loathe it so much. But then when the preacher preaches, I am able to coherently think of deconstructing the meaning of God as the Being of Presence. Last night, I was able to hear a preacher speaking from the Hebrews. He was saying the author was unknown. But then a close study of the text, the usage of the style of language, the mellifluous prose all makes its author distinguishable as ST. Paul. How can theologians be so certain of authorship? There is so much imitation and copying of styles by different authors. I sat through the whole boring sermon thinking of women and booze. But then at times I paid my close ear to the words being said. I began to understand the cunning sophistry of the preacher. The preacher will select two or three verses and then use an elliptical inference and circumnavigate the entire Bible. I would like to call the theology of Paul as Semantic Massacre. Paul destructs the semantics of meaning and then magnifies meaning and elevates it to a senseless non-coherent God-of- presence theology. For e.g. he says: “it’s not by the eloquence of language but by the grace of God we are sustained”. This in the semiotics of language can be called as (Semanitcide). Semanticide comes from semantics (meaning) and (cide) killing. Paulian theology is an entire massacre of Semantics. The verse in the Hebrews which was taken was: in the Old Testament God spoke through the prophets but now God speaks directly through his son Christ. Till now the concept of the Trinity has baffled me. How can the Trinity be one and at the same time be separate? The preacher was speaking of retribution by God if we do not heed to his word. He used the example of Moses who liberated the Israelites from the tyranny of the Pharaoh. Moses was asked by God to touch a rock with a stick so that water will gush out of it for drinking. Seeing the drunken revelry and idolatry of the Israelites, Moses in a fit of anger struck the rock with the stick. This God considered as unpardonable and so Moses lost the opportunity of seeing the blessed land of Canan. How can God be so callous? Does he not regard us being human and being prone to error? I end this story with Nietzsche’s quote: “Human I am all too Human.” Long Live the Ubermensch!
